I have never been to the northeast.

DC Shorts accepted “It’s in the P-I” and they offered to put me up for the extent of the festival.

To keep myself busy I have decided to videoblog the experience.

Post Production: The Hot Dog Cycle

Color correction is a lot like sound design: it is often ignored, but when ignored reflects poorly on everyone involved in a production. Color correction can give you control over the texture, tone, color and clairity of a scene. If done properly it can can completely change the nature of a scene. When done bad is just trying to make things look “cooler.” In that case everything just ends up looking like a poorly shot episode of CSI.
Jed Smith, the person who has been The Last Quest’s post production wizard decided to post a blog entry showing the color correction before and after for each scene in our short “The Hot Dog Cycle.” I was amazed by how the slight tweaks Morgan and Jed worked on, made all the difference in some of the scenes. It is pretty interesting, check it out.

On Saturday July 26th the film “Still Life” invaded a south Seattle club… The Mix. We were there from 7am to 12:30pm and got everything we needed. This is by far one of the most intense scenes we have ever set.

This is an un-edited recording of us setting up for the master of shot Scene1D.

This is the third take and the one we are going to use in the final movie.

Shooting a movie tomorrow

So the reason our website has been neglected as of late is that we have been prepping a new movie made by The Last Quest! It is titled “Still Life.” Tomorrow is our first big shoot and I will be posting video that night of us onset.
Here is what I have been doing for the last week:

It is a what I am calling a “Production Bible.” It’s purpose is to give you a road map on how to get through the nuts and bolts of production.

This Sunday the Seattle Times did an article on STIFF, the festival The Hot Dog Cycle is playing in. They used a picture from the film.
We also now have a facebook page for the STIFF showing.
